GREETINGS FROM MARTINILAND! By this summer it will look something sort of like this with a nice retro color scheme and lots of impatiens shaded by this great old tree.
Aloha kanes and wahines!
Well, we finally made it up North and are we glad to be
settled down again! After months and months of searching
for our new headquarters, we were lucky enough to find
this perfectly kool 1960's modern home in beautiful
Sacramento, Ca. Funny how things work out, it's almost
as if this house had just been sitting here waiting for us to
come along. Absolutely everything we'd been looking for
was here. I don't think we could have done better if we
custom built it for ourselves.

Our "post and beam" contruction home was built in 1962
by the Streng Bros architects, no doubt influenced by the
fine Joseph Eichler designs of that same era. There are
several small pockets of these modest but well designed
homes in and around Sacramento. Unfortunately, many
have fallen prey over the years to tasteless remodeling
projects and some, victims of neglect. Many however
have been lovingly preserved or restored by their proud
owners. The previous owners of this house (who were
also the original) took very good care of it. Most of the
original hardware and finishes remain and are still in
great condition. An expansion that was done in the 80's
was carefully planned to preserve the design and
integrity of the original architecture..

So now the fun part begins. Transforming this home
into our new Pariarts ultra- lounge! MARTINILAND!
We took these pictures when we first looked at the house In
October 2001. That's Brian our real estate agent on the deck.
The furnishings and landscaping are the previous owner's.

The backyard will be perfect for cocktail parties and luaus
 during those hot Sacramento summers.
The waterfall and tropical lagoon will go here.
This will be the future ultra-lounge! It's so 60's!
The main room features this great all electric kitchen with built-in eating counter, dining room and family room.
We love the exposed aggregate in the entry foyer. Off of that is a room which we'll use as our TV lounge. Just outside is a covered patio area which is ideal for a hot tub. Yeah Baby!
The transformation begins! Our first project was to make a new address sign for the front of the house.
Paul plants his first bamboo grove in our new backyard.
The Jacuzzi arrives! A perfect fit!
Scrapping the cottage cheese off the ceilings. High on my list of LEAST favorite things to do.
Paul patiently patches and preps for paint. Say that 3 times real fast!
Now with some color on the walls the Flying Torriginos drop by a ceremonial dance.
Paul checks out our new table.
The Lucy dishes in their new place of honor.
Work begins on installing the new tile floors.
